my jan/feb edition of cooking light featured
'our best chocolate recipes ever'
they took the top 16 most popular chocolate recipes
from the past 25 years and put them in a bake off.
these super fudgey decadent walnut brownies were the winner.
perfection.
ingredients
3/4 all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chunks, divided
1/3 cup fat-free milk
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, divided
directions
1. preheat oven to 350°.
2. weigh or lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife.
combine flour and next 5 ingredients (through salt) in a large bowl.
3. combine 1/2 cup chocolate and milk in a microwave-safe bowl;
microwave at HIGH 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds.
stir in butter, vanilla, and eggs.
4. add milk mixture, 1/2 cup chocolate,
and 1/4 cup nuts to flour mixture; stir to combine
(time to lick the bowl!) :)
5. pour the batter into a 9-inch square metal baking pan coated with cooking spray;
sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup nuts.
(okay, i didn't have a metal baking pan, so i used glass.
which is totally fine, but you'll need to increase the baking time!)
6. bake at 350° for 22 minutes or until a wooden pick
inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs clinging.
cool in pan on a wire rack.
(i kept baking mine past the 22 suggested minutes,
and checked it every 3 minutes or so.
i think i probably baked it about 30ish minutes total)
7. cut & enjoy!
this pic seriously does not do this brownie justice.
it was AMAZING.
in fact it was so thick and rich and gooey and decadent,
it needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream
or a tall glass of cold milk as a sidekick.
delicious!
Yum. I saw these in my issue too and wanted to try them! Glad to know they are good!
