blue bird, the ski day

slang for a beautiful sunny day on the mountain

i grew up skiing on mount bachelor.

i used to love the feel of fresh powder under my skies.

zooming down the mountain at an exhilarating pace...

i spent every weekend in high school up at the mountain,

finding the best tree runs and most pristine powder.

and then somewhere along the way life got busy.

i filled my weekends with other hobbies.

but being back on the mountain this past weekend was amazing.

some things never change!

the second i popped the heel of my boot into my skis,

and propelled myself off the first lift, it was pure joy.

it is good to be reminded about things that you love.

to go on adventures. to do something you haven't done in a while.

just for the heck of it. 

you may never know how much you really missed it all along!

blue bird, the cocktail

 (sneak peak of my mini bar)

ingredients

1 2/3 oz gin

1 oz triple sec or cointreau

4 drops angostura bitters

directions

1. pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice.

shake. strain into a cocktail glass.

garnish with a lemon twist.

this cocktail was strong, but delightful.

perfect end to the perfect day on the mountain!
