you may or may not know that i deleted my facebook account a couple of months back.
this transition has had it's pros and it's cons.
among the downsides are that my friends have to text me every single party invite!
during this process they often seem to leave out small details.
example: i went to a party friday night and brought these cookies.
i show up and it was a MEXICAN party.
well, okay, i had no idea.
and while i'm pretty sure there isn't a bad time for chocolate chip cookies -
i could have probably brought a slightly more festive dessert! oh well :)
these were delightful. a classic chocolate chunk cookie with savory sea salt flakes.
perfection.
recipe via bon appetit
ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup (packed) light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 large egg yolks
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 oz semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
maldon or other flaky sea salt
**next time i would put in at least 12oz chocolate chunks**
directions
1. preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. whisk flour, baking powder, kosher salt,
and baking soda in a medium bowl; set aside.
3. using an electric mixer on medium speed,
beat butter, brown sugar, sugar, and powdered sugar
until light and fluffy, 3-4 minutes.
add egg yolks, egg, and vanilla.
beat, occasionally scraping down the sides of the bowl,
until mixture is pale and fluffy, 4-5 minutes.
4. reduce mixer speed to low; slowly add dry ingredients, mixing just to blend.
using a spatula, fold in chocolate.
5. spoon rounded tablespoonfuls of cookie dough onto
parchment lined baking sheets, spacing 1-inch apart. sprinkle cookies with sea salt.
6. bake cookies, rotating sheets halfway through,
until just golden brown around the edges, 10-12 minutes
(the cookies will firm up as they cool).
transfer to wire racks; let cool completely.
Oh man I have been wanting to take a break from facebook, but I have FOMO! (fear of missing out).... are you glad you did it? I had a random dream with you in it the other day! Hope you are doing well:)
